The Professional License in Environmental Law at UNIVGA is a comprehensive 3-year university program (180 ECTS) that trains environmental law jurists, environmental compliance officers, legal assistants in NGOs, and ESG collaborators capable of intervening with mining, oil, forestry companies, local authorities, law firms, and international organizations.<\/p>\n

Designed to meet the growing environmental demands in French-speaking Africa (extractive industries, REDD+ projects, FSC certification, climate financing) and international standards (Paris Agreement, Convention on Biological Diversity, CSRD requirements), this training is delivered 100% online. It combines the rigor of a university legal education with the operationality of an environmental lawyer position.<\/p>\n

Market challenges and career opportunities<\/h3>\n

The ESG requirements of international donors (AfDB, World Bank, AFD, IFC), the strict application of environmental codes, the boom in REDD+ projects and carbon finance, and the gradual transposition of European directives (CSRD, CSDDD) through supply chains create a strong demand for environmental lawyers. Ministries, municipalities, environmental NGOs, and legal services of extractive companies are actively recruiting.<\/p>\n

Curriculum pedagogical structure<\/h3>\n

Year 1 \u2014 Legal Fundamentals.<\/strong> Introduction to law, constitutional law, administrative law, civil law (persons, property, obligations), judicial institutions, legal methodology, environmental legal English, written and oral communication.<\/p>\n

Year 2 \u2014 National and International Environmental Law.<\/strong> National environmental codes, international environmental law (CBD, UNFCCC, CITES), African forestry and mining law, environmental impact assessment (EIA) and hazard study, climate law (Paris Agreement, NDC, carbon markets), biodiversity law (protected areas, endangered species, access to genetic resources).<\/p>\n

Year 3 \u2014 Specialization in compliance and litigation.<\/strong> Pollution law (water, air, soil), waste law (DAS, BSD, transboundary transfers), national and international environmental litigation, CSR, non-financial reporting (CSRD, ESRS, GRI), duty of vigilance and CSDDD, climate finance (REDD+, voluntary carbon markets, green taxonomy), AI and environmental compliance (LegalTech, satellite monitoring), professional ethics. The program concludes with a supervised professional thesis, defended orally via videoconference before an academic jury.<\/p>\n
