The University of Michigan-Flint (UM-Flint) is renowned for over six decades of academic excellence, with origins dating back to 1837, when it was initially established as Flint Senior College. Its founding was influenced by Sarah C. Miles Case, a resident of Ann Arbor, and it became a fully recognized institution in 1956. Today, UM-Flint is an important part of the University of Michigan system, alongside its campuses in Ann Arbor and Dearborn.
Founded in 1826, University College London (UCL) is the oldest and largest institution of the University of London. Nicknamed “London’s Global University,” it ranks 9th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2025 and 2nd in the UK for its research power (Research Excellence Framework 2021). The first university in England to admit students regardless of religion or background, UCL is committed to providing an internationally renowned education. With a diverse student population of over 40,000 students, UCL clearly has an international vocation: 53% of its students come from outside the UK, representing over 150 countries. The university also has an outstanding track record in training internationally renowned researchers, with 30 Nobel Prize winners having been staff or students at UCL. UCL employs over 840 professors and 7,000 teaching researchers across 11 faculties, conducting cutting-edge research and teaching in fields such as science, engineering, law, and humanities. Its students benefit from close ties with leading London teaching hospitals, including Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, Moorfields Eye Hospital, and Royal Free Hospital, providing them with excellent research and professional experience opportunities in the medical field. UCL offers over 650 master's programs and nearly 500 undergraduate degrees, making it one of the most comprehensive universities in the UK. UCL's admission rate varies by program but generally hovers around 63%, meaning admission is competitive yet accessible to students with strong academic qualifications. UCL also has its own Centre for Languages & International Education (CLIE), which offers a range of preparatory courses and summer courses for international students; credited foreign language modules from beginner to near-native level, and academic English modules for UCL students. CLIE also houses UCL's Academic Communication Centre and UCL Summer School.
